Re: Too windy to ride?
Not sure i've ever experienced "too windy". However, I live in the bay area so i'm not sure such a thing exists. I usually avoid combinations of things like windy and/or rain and/or excessive cold before determining when to not ride.

Is there such a thing??? haha.... IMHO I would say if the wind pushes you over 2 lanes before you can correct it. 60+ maybe.

Re: Too windy to ride?
This is a very good question. I asked something similar because living in the 680 freeway between Benicia and Vacaville, and the Benicia Bridge are always windy and I was getting blown all over. But, since it's always windy there, I wanted a way to deal with it. Some of the replies I got were awesome and informative. Here's the linkie:Jessikac wrote:What would you guys say is too windy to ride?

Ah yes, I do remember that thread and what a great one it was. Thanks Cashie. Wind speeds yesterday were 30 MPH with gusts of 40 (if I remember correctly) and just wasn't sure if that was safe to ride in or not.
No regrets!

Re: Too windy to ride?
God I love my Josh....
On another note - I ride until the point I don't feel in control anymore. If you aren't in control of your bike in the wind, getting pushed around and can't stay in at LEAST one HALF of a lane, then I think it's unsafe. If you aren't comfortable, and you can put yourself in danger, then that should be "too much."
However, today was VERY windy when we were riding, but we all handled it well, and I did get tossed around a bit, but nothing that was ever out of my control.

I will ride as long as I'm in control of the bike. I remember I was almost knocked over when I was at a stop. I was only riding to the gym which is about less than 2 miles from home.
