Why do we need suspension in the first place? After all, go-carts move pretty fast with no suspension at all, other than tire and chassis flex. When trying to answer this, it's important to remember that go-carts travel over fairly smooth surfaces while motorcycles encounter bumps. This is where suspension makes a difference. The purpose of the suspension is threefold: to minimize harshness, maximize traction, and maximize control.
