Motorcyclist killed in I-880 crash near SJ Airport

#1 Post by MistrissKittie » Wed Oct 29, 2008 9:05 am

A 26-year-old Milpitas man who was riding a motorcycle at excessive speed and collided into the rear end of a sport-utility vehicle was killed Tuesday night on Interstate 880 near Mineta San Jose International Airport.

Jose Sierra Osorio died in the collision, according to the Santa Clara County coroner's office. Osorio was riding a 1999 Honda CBR motorcycle at excessive speed when he collided with the rear of a Chevrolet Tahoe, according to the California Highway Patrol. Witnesses reported seeing the motorcycle in excess of 100 mph. The CHP indicates that alcohol may have been a factor in the collision.

The collision occurred just before 9 p.m. near Coleman Avenue and shut down all lanes of the southbound freeway in that area for about four hours. All lanes were re-opened just before 12:30 a.m., according to the CHP.

A friend of mine was the responding officer-not pretty and oh so avoidable.
