Motorcyclist killed after falling under S.F. school bus

#1 Post by MistrissKittie » Fri Jan 16, 2009 3:27 pm

A motorcyclist was killed this morning after he lost control and fell under the back wheels of a small school bus in San Francisco, authorities said.

The bus was traveling northbound on Bayshore Boulevard before Industrial Street when the motorcyclist, Frank Farris, 68, of Brisbane, pulled up alongside after splitting lanes through traffic, said California Highway Patrol Officer Shawn Chase.

Witnesses said the motorcyclist suddenly fell under the bus's rear tires, Chase said.

Farris, who had been wearing a helmet, was transported to San Francisco General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

"It seems the guy lost control for whatever reason and fell over," Chase said.

The driver of the bus felt a bump and saw the motorcycle and then pulled over.

It doesn't appear the bus driver did anything wrong and there is no suspicion that drugs or alcohol played a part in the crash, Chase said.

Four children were passengers on the bus. The children's parents were contacted after the incident and district officials were offering the students counseling services.

The district contracts with First Student to provide bus service to city students.

WHAT? How the hell does someone just "fall" under a bus? The press is out of their minds to entertain a notion that we might actually believe that BS. Dude was 68 years old, not some young punk kid stunting through SF.

And the fact that the bus driver simply felt a "bump" but didn't even see the rider......PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SURROUNDINGS!!! YOU'RE TRANSPORTING CHILDREN FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!
Humanity is a terrible thing to waste. Be patient, treat others with respect, and ride like you borrowed it indefinitely!

Agreed. Guy could have had a heart attack, sudden bout of dizziness, hit a oil spot ect. Something had to have made this guy fall. And big vehicles like buses , big trucks ect while you can't check the blind spots by looking over your shoulder they are supposed to be equipped with special "spotter" mirrors that enable the driver to see the blind spots to the sides. I'd say the driver wasn't paying as close attention as they should have been.

Ride on in Heaven rider.

I'm so sorry to hear stuff like this. It really doesn't matter whose fault it is. I'm just sorry to have lost a fellow rider.
