A California Highway Patrol officer suffered an ankle injury in a motorcycle accident on Interstate Highway 880 in Hayward this morning.

The collision was reported at about 6:45 a.m. near West A Street.

The officer was driving north on I-880 in the fast lane when he was cut off by a woman driving a white Buick LeSabre, CHP Officer Cristina Tagle said.

Tagle said that when the Buick swerved into his lane, the officer slammed on his brakes but was unable to avoid hitting the back of the car. His right mirror became stuck on the rear of the Buick and he went down.

The officer himself was the first to call in the crash, and emergency crews quickly arrived and treated him for what appeared to be a broken ankle, Tagle said. He was taken to a hospital.

The woman driving the Buick stopped after the collision and cooperated with investigators. Tagle said there is no indication alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The collision caused the closure of two lanes for about an hour.

So, do you think he'll ultimately be found at fault? He did directly admit to hitting the car... Interesting anyways."Good" to know its not just the rest of us.

this officer was the one to respond to the scene of J-Roc's accident. That sucks to hear that he was also involved in an accident. Even though he's on the other side of authority, he still deserves the respect that all riders share for each other. I wish him a speedy recovery!!! Im glad his injuries were minor...He was one of the fortunate ones
