Motorcyclist Injured in WC

#1 Post by MistrissKittie » Fri May 22, 2009 6:50 pm

WALNUT CREEK — A motorcyclist suffered serious leg injuries when he was struck by a car pulling out from a parking lot Friday afternoon.

The collision occurred about 3:30 p.m. as the motorcyclist and his female passenger were headed south on Oak Grove Road. Just south of Ygnacio Valley Road, the driver of a 1992 Mazda sedan was pulling into traffic.

For an unknown reason, the Mazda struck the motorcycle, Walnut Creek police Lt. Lanny Edwards said.

The motorcycle driver suffered serious injuries. They were not thought to be life-threatening, Edwards said. His passenger suffered road rash injuries. Both were taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. The driver of the Mazda, who was determined by police to have caused the crash, was not hurt.

Hope the rider and passenger make a full recovery. Looks like the lame old excuse " I didn't see the motorcycle" isn't going to work this time.

My thought also Mike. At least they didn't blame the motorcyclist.

Can legal action be taken in a case like this--like suspending or revoking the driver's license? There ought to be a law....sigh.
